Under general supervision, provides genetic counseling to high risk perinatal patients and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
Provide genetic counseling primarily for prenatal /preconceptional indications;
Elicit and obtain family history and medical information;
Assist in providing professional psychosocial genetic counseling to individuals regarding genetic conditions existing in or posing potential risks to their children;
Offer appropriate medical or genetic testing to individuals/families at risk for genetic diseases or birth defects;
Educate and explain technical and medical aspects of diagnostic and screening methods and reproductive options, including associated risks, benefits and limitations;
Work in close collaboration with five perinatologists and a team of highly skilled sonographers;
Assist in coordinating communication between patient, referring provider, neonatology, and other medical professionals in the diagnosis and evaluation of birth conditions;
Support MFM services in satellite clinics via telemedicine;
Assist in charting, reporting, and coordinating clinical testing and test results;
Actively participate in education of medical students, residents, and MFM fellows
Provide supervision of genetic counseling students from the University of Maryland training program

FBI/Act 73 Child Abuse Clearance, PA Child Line Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check
Master's Degree from an accredited genetic counseling training program
Certification with the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
Current Pennsylvania Genetic Counselor License
Experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered
