Risk Manager
Trenton, NJ

We are currently seeking a Risk Manager to coordinate risk management and insurance programs to control risks and losses.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage liability claims from inception through closure by coordinating with carriers, defense counsel, witnesses, insured defendants and executive management.
  • Supervise the maintenance of the health system safety reporting system.
  • Develop reports for specific departments and the VP, Quality/Resource Management and for performance improvement and management purposes.
  • Analyze potential and actual claims reports to identify trends and opportunities for proper benchmarking and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate the Captive Insurance program, including renewal, marketing and placement of re-insurance and excess layers.
  • Assess operations, new programs and contracts to ensure maximum insurance coverage for all possible exposures through appropriate policies.
  • Manage all property and business interruption losses through property insurance claims.
  • Manage the hospital safety reporting program by ensuring conformance to hospital policy, by following up on incidents, and by performing surveillance of departmental performance.
  • Provide consultation to managers, employees and physicians regarding consent issues, release of records, and so forth to identify risks and to provide corrective action.
  • Consult with General Counsel on legal problems, guardianship issues and advisement of significant risk management issues.
  • Screen records subpoenas, court orders and other documents related to the health system with the exception of those submitted to the Medical Records Department.
  • Manage the automobile losses through insurance claims and work to reduce risk of automobile loss.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous risk and insurance management experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Certificate in Risk Management preferred.
